New "Best" PCI video card, for those with no other upgrade option
BFG, under a sublabel of 3D Fuzion, is bringing the Geforce 6200 to PCI. This should easily be the best PCI graphics card out there now, and the price is pretty dang good.

Here it is for sale (soon) at Monarch for only 81$ + tax:

I'm going to see if I can't get the reviewers at one of my tech sites to review this card against the PCI-E version, as well as some other low-end cards to see where it stands. If I do, I'll post a link.

Interesting, prob be the highest PCI graphics card that will be released as PCI-E will soon superseed PCI as the primary expansion slot on all modern computers. Though for a PCI graphics card it is good, i would still recommend to anyone using PCI graphics to upgrade to AGP or PCI-E ASAP, before u are forced to.

Steel, PCI has been almost completely phased out. Not to mention the fact that AGP is well on its way to go down the same path. I see no reason why anyone would want to spend $80 on an upgrade that offers little in the way of performance, and even less in the upgrade department. IMO save up and do a mainboard switch, even s754 and s478 systems have PCI-E options.

Some people with Dells and HP's and Compaqs (prebuilt garbage) have non-standard motherboards that can't be replaced with a standard ATX. This is simply listed as an affordable upgrade from integrated graphics for people who would otherwise have to practically buy another computer just to get any kind of viable expansion slots.

Yes, i'm very aware of the proprietary garbage that Dell, HP, Compaq, etc...put into their computers. Though you must also realize, Dell, HP, Compaq, etc...also put extremely garbage power supplies into their systems. Most of which have rails fluxating in the extremes and they can barely power the system as is, without adding other components.

yuk, Dell, tis like saying a swear word lol. Lurid is right, power supplys in many PCs like Dells, are too small and underpowered to support upgrades. About AGP Lurid, i have an AGP card myself, works a dream, though i see what ur getting at, for someone whos buying a completely new motherboard to upgrade from PCI, it would be best to go to PCI-E, i agree with that, jusy comman sense really
